The County Administrative Board of Östergötland have pursued international work succesfully since the mid nineties. EU-cooperation is a high priority. We have also built longlasting relations with twinning and sister regions.
The purpose of our international cooperation is to improve regional development in several areas such as sustainable development, increased international cooperation and economic growth.
Transnational network
The County Administrative Board of Östergötland have established a network of cooperating regions in Europe. The purpose of the network is to facilitate the application and management of EU-projects, to exchange knowledge between expertise and officials in the regions and to organise events and conferences. The transnational network will build a strong base for future cooperation.
The participating regions are Abruzzo (Italy), Cardiff (UK), Catalonia (Spain), Cesis district (Latvia), Kujawsko-Pomorskie (Poland), Päijät-Häme (Finland), Karlsruhe (Germany) and South Great Plain (Hungary).
With some of the regions Östergötland have good longlasting relations since earlier EU-projects, others are twinning regions and some are new relations. The participating regions have been chosen because their university research, business structure and division between rural areas and cities are similar to Östergötland. Most important however, is that we share mutual interest for the cooperation areas listed below.
- Business development (Tourism, Entrepreneurship in school, Business development, Creative growth, Women’s entrepreneurship)
- Environment (Agriculture, Green energy, Water management, Environmental engineering, Energy efficiency in buildings)
- Spatial planning
- Honour related violence
