The County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland
The County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland represents the National Government and stands for protection of legal rights, diversity in society,
sustainable development and comprehensive, cross sectoral solutions.
The County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland is one of 21 boards responsible for central government administration inclucing:
- ensuring that national goals are reached at county level
- coordinating different interests within the community from an overall national perspective
- promoting the county’s development
- watching over conditions in the county and keeping the Government informed
- granting permits and hearing appeals against municipal decisions within the Administration’s areas of responsibility
- exercising supervisory powers by checking that various bodies observe the law and guidelines
- acting as a service organisation and providing expert help for all who live and work in the county
- functioning as the authority for the Skagerrak and Kattegat Water District.
The County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland has a staff of some 720 based at seven locations in Västra Götaland: Göteborg, Vänersborg, Mariestad, Skara, Uddevalla, Borås and Lake Hornborga.
The County Governor and the Deputy Governor reside in Göteborg. Together, they constitute the management of the Administrative Board.
